Korea Severe Disease Association "Medical School Professors Must Present Feasible Alternatives"

"Death Sentence for Patients with Severe Diseases"

The Korea Severe Disease Alliance stated on the 13th that the proposal by Seoul National University College of Medicine professors to decide on increasing medical school admissions one year later and to form a dialogue council including national representatives and residents "sounds like a call to surrender to the government."

In a statement released that day, the alliance said, "There is no sign of any effective measures or considerations for patients currently suffering from severe diseases," and added, "We ask for attention and care for patients whose lives are threatened by the collective medical refusal of the professors' disciples."

The alliance said, "The alternative proposed by the Professors' Council is a negotiation that only includes the medical community's claim to reconsider everything from the beginning. It seems to be a message containing a final ultimatum to all remaining medical staff to withdraw," and urged, "Since this is a proposal difficult for the Ministry of Health and Welfare to accept, please prepare a feasible alternative."

The alliance stated, "Even if just one person leaves the medical field now, it is tantamount to a death sentence for severe disease patients," and emphasized, "In any case, when forming the council, the severe patients who are the parties involved must participate."
