On June 12, Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will provide free 'Pre-consultation for Restaurant Hygiene Rating System' for food service establishments in the area.
The Restaurant Hygiene Rating System, overseen by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, evaluates 44 hygiene-related items concerning restaurants and assigns ratings in three levels: 'Excellent', 'Good', and 'Fair'.
This consultation is conducted for 34 food service establishments, including general restaurants and bakeries, preparing for hygiene rating designation this year. For businesses applying for the hygiene rating consultation, a professional consulting company visits to provide evaluations on each item, identify deficiencies, problems, and offer improvement plans.
Receiving a hygiene rating designation grants various benefits such as certificates, plaques, and incentives. Currently, 222 establishments in the Osan area have been designated under the hygiene rating system.

Kodonghun, Director of the Osan City Health Center, expressed hope that "customized consultation on the hygiene rating system will contribute to improving restaurant hygiene levels and fostering a safe dining culture."
