The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety Launches Campaign to Promote 'Innovative Medical Devices'... Exhibition Booth Set Up at KIMES

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 13th that it will operate a special promotional pavilion during the Korea International Medical & Hospital Equipment Show (KIMES) to widely promote the safety and excellence of products designated as innovative medical devices and support the export of K-medical devices.

KIMES, held from the 14th to the 17th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is the largest medical device exhibition in Korea, featuring over 1,350 domestic and international manufacturers showcasing more than 35,000 medical devices and related products.


Innovative medical devices refer to medical devices that, according to the Medical Device Act, apply advanced technologies in fields with high technological intensity and rapid innovation, or improve usage methods, significantly enhancing or expected to enhance safety and efficacy compared to existing medical devices or treatments. So far, 60 products have been designated.


At the special promotional pavilion set up at this KIMES, six domestic outstanding innovative medical device companies will exhibit and demonstrate seven products, providing domestic and international visitors attending KIMES the opportunity to experience them firsthand. Additionally, the pavilion will promote the innovative medical device system and its achievements and offer tailored consultations throughout the entire product development cycle. The exhibited and demonstrated products include ▲ Lunit’s image detection and diagnostic support software Lunit Insight CXR and Lunit Insight MMG ▲ Deepnoid’s brain image detection and diagnostic support software Deepnoir ▲ Imocog’s cognitive therapy software Cogthera ▲ E&Healthcare’s tumor marker immunoassay reagent DxMe BC Kit ▲ Todak’s cochlear implant Sullivan ▲ Solmedix’s sterile injection needle Lightin.


Namhee Lee, Director of the Medical Device Safety Bureau at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, stated, "To promote the development and rapid commercialization of innovative medical devices, we plan to implement a full-cycle technical support project for innovative medical devices in collaboration with the Korea Medical Device Safety Information Center. At the same time, we will actively pursue mega projects to support the export of excellent domestic medical devices."
