Image and Sound Innovation with New Processor
On Sale at LGE.COM Starting the 13th
LG Electronics announced on the 13th that it will officially launch the 2024 LG OLED TV and LG QNED TV equipped with a new processor that significantly enhances artificial intelligence (AI) performance in the domestic market.
This year, LG Electronics will operate the LG OLED TV lineup with the industry's largest variety, including ▲OLED Evo (series names: M4·G4·C4), ▲standard OLED TV (B4), ▲lifestyle OLED TVs Pos? and Flex. The wireless OLED TV (M4) lineup has added a 65-inch model this year, in addition to the 97-, 83-, and 77-inch models from last year.
For LG QNED TV, a 98-inch model has been added to meet the needs of customers who want a large-sized, premium liquid crystal display (LCD) TV, presenting a full lineup of QNED TVs (43, 50, 55, 65, 75, 86, and 98 inches).
The key elements of LG TVs this year are the enhanced AI deep learning performance and the improved central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) performance that support it, providing clear picture quality and rich spatial sound.
The Alpha 11 processor applied to the LG OLED Evo (M4·G4 series) is based on AI performance that is four times stronger than the previous Alpha 9, with graphics performance improved by 70% and processing speed increased by 30%. It analyzes pixel-level details within frames to upscale image quality and converts 2-channel audio sources into virtual 11.1.2 channels. Compared to Alpha 9, two additional channels responsible for ambient sound provide richer spatial audio. It also introduces a function that clearly corrects voices of characters buried in background noise for the first time.
The LG QNED Evo (QNED91·90) applies the Alpha 8 processor, which is 1.3 times stronger than Alpha 7, delivering clear picture quality and rich 9.1.2 spatial sound. It features quantum dot, NanoCell technologies, and mini light-emitting diode (LED) backlighting, offering excellent color and contrast expression.
The smart TV platform 'webOS,' celebrating its 10th anniversary, has enhanced personalized experiences based on AI. When users say "Log in to my account" on the remote control, AI recognizes the voice and logs into the corresponding account, allowing use of a home screen composed of the set picture mode and frequently used content. Especially when setting the picture mode, if users select a preferred image from the options provided, AI analyzes it and changes the picture to one of approximately 85 million modes that suit their taste. The 2024 LG OLED TV and QNED TV will receive webOS upgrades until 2028.
LG Electronics will sequentially launch the 2024 LG TVs in about 150 countries worldwide, including North America (end of March) and Europe (early April), following the domestic release. Leading global media outlets have also given consecutive favorable reviews ahead of the new product launch. The US media outlet Tom's Guide named the LG OLED Evo G4 as one of the 'Most Exciting TVs of 2024.' The outlet praised the Alpha 11 processor as "a new technological leap" and noted that "the AI picture correction feature delivers brightness superior to competitors."
