Seongsimdang, a bakery in Daejeon nationally loved for its "Twigim Soboro," has collaborated with the local election commission to release so-called "Voting Bread" to encourage participation in the 22nd National Assembly election. The Voting Bread comes in two types, each featuring either a voting mark or the date of this year's general election (4·10) embossed on the thick bread's surface. They are called "Tupyohaeyo Angppang (2000 won)" and "Inal-i Tupyoppang (2500 won)."
Tupyohaeyo Angppang is a food item similar to Danpatppang filled with red bean paste. Inal-i Tupyoppang resembles Seongsimdang's signature product, "Big Match." Big Match is a bread topped with crispy cookie biscuit and filled with cream cheese.
Additionally, the food pick labels display the early voting date and election day, providing voters with useful voting information.
Seongsimdang has been making Voting Bread for several years. They started producing Voting Bread from the 7th simultaneous local elections in 2018 and this year created it again while running an election campaign with the Daejeon Election Commission.
Netizens who encountered this year’s Voting Bread gave overwhelmingly positive reviews. Comments included, "Promoting Daejeon and encouraging voting, Seongsimdang stands at the heart of Daejeon," "This is not just an event bread. You must try the cream cheese version," and "I now have a reason to visit Daejeon just to eat the Voting Bread."
Meanwhile, the Daejeon Election Commission is also conducting promotional campaigns encouraging voting participation through the Chungcheong region soju brand "Ijeurin."
