Kakao Enterprise announced on the 12th that it will provide its enterprise integrated cloud platform, ‘Kakao Cloud,’ to Kakao Games’ PC and mobile cross-platform massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) ‘ArcheAge War.’
ArcheAge War operates based on Kakao Cloud’s cloud computing service BCS (Beyond Compute Service) m2a instances. The m2a instances are equipped with AMD’s 3rd generation EPYC Milan processors. They support a high clock speed of up to 3.6 gigahertz (GHz), instance sizes with up to 96 virtual central processing units (vCPUs), and 384 gibibytes (GiB) of memory.
Kakao Cloud’s m2a instances can be used at up to approximately 60% more reasonable prices compared to overseas cloud products with equivalent specifications. For example, if the cost of operating a single existing game server was 100, it is explained that through m2a instances, costs can be reduced to 40 while maintaining the same performance to provide a smooth and uninterrupted gaming environment.
Due to the nature of the MMORPG genre, where many users connect simultaneously, ArcheAge War chose Kakao Cloud through a proof of concept (PoC) in terms of ▲stable network ▲rapid scalability to handle traffic increases ▲high availability to minimize failures. To implement a stable cloud environment, it is operated as a hybrid cloud.
Lee Jae-han, head of Kakao Enterprise’s business division, emphasized, “Kakao Cloud will actively support enterprises and institutions to efficiently utilize high-performance cloud services through industry-specialized cloud services for gaming, public sector, finance, and more.”
