30 Sites Including Ready-Mix Concrete Manufacturers and Construction Waste Disposal Companies
The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office announced on the 12th that it will conduct special inspections starting this month on 30 sites, including ready-mixed concrete manufacturers and construction waste disposal companies in the jurisdiction that emit large amounts of fugitive dust.
This inspection is being carried out in response to concerns about public health due to fugitive dust and yellow dust during the spring season.
Fugitive dust refers to dust that is emitted directly into the atmosphere without a specific emission outlet.
The inspection will not only check the installation of facilities to suppress fugitive dust emissions but will also actively utilize drones to improve inspection efficiency for blind spots that are difficult to access on-site, covering the overall operation of the facilities.
Inspections will also be conducted on the environmental management status of business sites, including the proper operation of air and wastewater discharge facilities and prevention facilities, as well as the proper disposal of waste.
Director Choi Jong-won stated, “This inspection is a proactive measure to minimize public health damage caused by fugitive dust during the spring when activity levels increase,” and added, “We urge businesses to voluntarily ensure thorough operation and management of fugitive dust emission suppression facilities.”
