On the 11th (local time), NVIDIA issued a statement through a spokesperson saying, "We respect the rights of all content creators and fully comply with copyright law in creating NeMo." NeMo is NVIDIA's own AI platform launched in 2022 that allows developers to use large language models (LLM) to generate content, develop code, and create AI applications.

On the 8th, three authors, including Brian Keene, the writer of the novel "Ghost Walk," filed a lawsuit claiming that their works were included as part of a dataset of 196,640 books used to train NeMo's LLM. The authors demanded that NVIDIA return profits gained from copyright infringement and compensate for the damages they suffered.

On the same day, NVIDIA's stock price on the New York Stock Exchange fell 2% compared to the previous trading day due to the news of the lawsuit. This followed a roughly 6% drop in the prior trading session, marking two consecutive days of decline.
