Socar's shared personal mobility (PM) platform, Ilecle, announced on the 12th that it will offer a coupon this month allowing unlimited use of electric bicycles placed on university campuses at a 20% discounted price throughout the semester.
Through this coupon, users can enjoy a constant 20% discount for three months when using Ilecle electric bicycles on campuses within the service area. The 20% discount benefit will be provided continuously without any daily usage limits.
The university campus discount coupon, available for download this month only via the icon at the top of the Ilecle application, can be used at a total of 9 locations across 8 university campuses: Yonsei University Sinchon Campus, Sogang University, Hongik University, Incheon National University Songdo Campus, Yonsei University International Campus, Kyonggi University Suwon Campus, Ajou University, Sungkyunkwan University Natural Science Campus, and Kyung Hee University International Campus. During the first half of the year, the service and benefits will be expanded to campuses such as Konkuk University, Sejong University, Chungnam National University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) main campus, and Seoul National University of Science and Technology.
Baek Ji-hoon, CEO of Nine to One, the operator of Ilecle, said, "To welcome the new semester, we prepared this discount benefit to provide a more convenient mobility experience along with the warm spring sunshine on campus," adding, "We plan to continue offering various benefits and services tailored to the needs of Ilecle electric bicycle users each season."
Meanwhile, last year, campus users averaged 10.9 rides per person annually, with a total of 360,000 Ilecle uses. The average ride duration was 7 minutes, and the average distance traveled was 1.8 km, with the highest usage rates during commuting hours at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Additionally, according to a user satisfaction survey conducted by Ilecle, the advantages of the shared electric bicycle service were convenience (65.1%), quick mobility (15.2%), and safety (11.8%).
