Hwasung-jeong Jeon Yong-gi Win Primary Elections Respectively
In the Democratic Party's primary for the Seoul Gangbuk constituency, incumbent lawmaker Park Yong-jin, classified as a non-pro-Myeong faction, was defeated by Jeong Bong-ju, the party's Education Training Center director who is pro-Myeong.
The Democratic Party Central Election Commission announced the primary results for four constituencies, including Gangbuk, on the afternoon of the 11th at the Yeouido party headquarters.
Earlier, in the three-person primary with Director Jeong and lawyer Lee Seung-hoon, no candidate received a majority of votes, leading to a runoff between Director Jeong and Park. However, Park was penalized with a 30% deduction in primary votes due to being in the "bottom 10% of incumbent legislative activity evaluations," and was ultimately not nominated.
In Seoul Seodaemun-gap, designated as a youth strategic electoral district, pro-Myeong lawyer Kim Dong-a, known as the "Daejang-dong lawyer," defeated former emergency committee member Kwon Ji-ung and lawyer Kim Kyu-hyun to win.
In Sejong Sejong-gap, candidate Lee Young-sun defeated preliminary candidates Lee Kang-jin and Noh Jong-yong. In the newly established Gyeonggi Hwaseong-jeong constituency, created through electoral district reorganization, lawmaker Jeon Yong-gi defeated preliminary candidates Jin Seok-beom and Jo Dae-hyun to receive the nomination.
