In a statement issued under the name of Jang Geun-mu, Director of the Distribution and Logistics Promotion Institute, KCCI said, "Changing the mandatory closure days of large supermarkets to weekdays will not only enhance consumer convenience but also revitalize commercial districts in Busan and nearby areas, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of the distribution industry."

It added, "We hope that the government ministries and large supermarkets will take the lead in efforts to expand win-win cooperation among large, medium, and small distribution companies, starting with the promotion and discussion of this weekday change."

Earlier, on the 7th, Busan City, 16 districts and counties in the Busan area, and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a win-win cooperation meeting for large and small-medium distribution companies with small business organizations such as the Busan Merchants Association and the Korea Chain Store Association, agreeing to jointly promote changing the mandatory closure days of large supermarkets in Busan from weekends to weekdays to revitalize local commercial districts.
