GH to Hold Design Competition for 'Startup Planet,' the Landmark of 3rd Pangyo

Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) is promoting Gyeonggi Province's first 'Pangyo Startup Planet Planning Design Competition' to derive innovative and creative architectural design ideas for the 3rd Pangyo Technovalley.

Pangyo Startup Planet is a project jointly promoted by Gyeonggi Province and GH, and on January 31, the specific implementation plan for the '3rd Pangyo Technovalley' was announced.

Pangyo Startup Planet will be the largest convergence-type public knowledge industry center in Korea, located on a 70,000㎡ site within the self-sufficient facility land of the 3rd Pangyo Technovalley, with a total floor area of 500,000㎡. It will include anchor companies (companies playing a leading role in specific industries or regions), startup spaces, and university sites. Additionally, various contents and facilities such as public dormitories for worker residential satisfaction and enjoyable spaces where people want to stay even after work will be introduced.

In particular, various measures for innovative growth are being prepared, including the construction of 1,000 public dormitory units, the establishment of a dedicated fund for tenants in the 3rd Pangyo, and the creation of a new concept testbed called 'Smart Ring' to assist product commercialization. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025 with a completion target of 2029.

GH plans to reflect architects' creative and innovative ideas in the basic planning and design framework to create Pangyo Startup Planet as a landmark building that realizes job-living-leisure-learning (직·주·락·학) and leads the innovative growth ecosystem.

Competition participants are invited to propose and design innovative and creative ideas including ▲communication and exchange environment plans among anchor companies, startups, and other enterprises ▲attraction facilities for Pangyo Startup Planet workers and external users ▲public dormitory plans for job-residence integration ▲plans for intermediate parks and streams.

The planning design competition will be announced later this month through the GH website and the planning design competition website.
