LetsRunPark Busan-Gyeongnam, Busan Ilbo Cup Raon The Point Wins... Announces Sprint Generation Change

Veterans' Fiery Fighting Spirit Challenges the Newcomers

At Korea Racing Authority's LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam, 'Raon the Point' (4 years old, owner: Raon Land Co., trainer: Park Jong-gon) won the 18th Busan Ilbo Cup Stakes held on the 10th, signaling a generational shift in Korean short-distance horse racing.

In this race, the first gateway of the short-distance series, strong contenders from Seoul and Busan-Gyeongnam gathered, filling the gate with 14 horses. With an average age of 6.7 years among the entrants, many veteran horses participated, drawing much attention to 'Eomaa-ma', who had already dominated short distances once, and 'Ssonsal', the pride of Busan-Gyeongnam short-distance racing.

After a fierce battle for the win among the entrants, the victory went to the 4-year-old rising stars. 'Raon the Point' earned the honor of winning its first stakes race. 'Raon the Point' is the only offspring of a Korean-bred horse among the entrants.

'Something Lost' (4 years old) took second place, while veterans 'Eomaa-ma' and 'Ssonsal' finished fifth and sixth respectively. This Busan Ilbo Cup attracted attention with the performances of the rising stars and the fiery fighting spirit of the veterans.

The generational shift in Korean short-distance horse racing made this race even more meaningful.

The veteran's response and the challenge of the emerging stars toward the stakes race will unfold in the second race of the series, the 'SBS Sports Sprint', on the 14th of next month.
