Saewool Nuclear Power Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (Head: So You-seop) announced that “Saewool Unit 2 (Pressurized Water Reactor type, 1.4 million kW class) stopped power generation at 10 a.m. on the 11th and entered the 3rd planned preventive maintenance.”
Saewool Unit 2 demonstrated the excellence and safety of the Korean-designed APR1400 nuclear reactor once again by contributing to stable power supply during summer and winter peak periods without a single failure shutdown for a total of 514 days since October 14, 2022.
During the planned preventive maintenance period, safety inspections under the Nuclear Safety Act, nuclear fuel replacement, and inspection and maintenance of major equipment and facilities will be conducted to ensure the safety and reliability of the power generation facilities.
Saewool Unit 2 is scheduled to resume power generation at the end of April after undergoing various statutory inspections, regulatory agency conformity confirmations, and obtaining operational approval from the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission.
