Operation through Establishment of Village Social Cooperative

Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, has opened 'Nasan Halmeoni Dabang,' a community gathering space to revitalize the old downtown area, as part of the preliminary urban regeneration project in Nasan-myeon.

According to the county on the 11th, the old fire station building was transformed into Nasan Halmeoni Dabang through the urban regeneration project. The dabang operates as a village communal facility and management project.

The building is a single-story structure with an area of 57.6㎡. It will host community activation events and run a village cafe business. It is open to everyone as a meeting and resting place for residents. Products developed locally, such as Nasan local food and toast, will also be sold.

The dabang held its opening ceremony on the 6th, performing a traditional opening ritual to ensure it becomes a beloved community space and a hub created by the residents themselves through the urban regeneration of Nasan-myeon. About 50 people, including Kim Inwon, chairman of the village management social cooperative operating the dabang, social organization leaders, and officials, attended the event.

Jung Chansu, president of the Prosperity Association, said, "Although many young people leave rural areas, it is thanks to the 40- and 50-somethings who are revitalizing the village community and bringing vitality to the rural village. I am grateful and proud."

Lee Sangik, mayor of Hampyeong-gun, stated, "Urban regeneration projects like Nasan Halmeoni Dabang have served as a catalyst to revive the region, and the county will actively strive to meet the residents' will."
