K-Street Food Captivates Global Taste Buds... Daesang O'Food Launches 'Korean Street Food'

Expansion of K-Food Horizons... Introducing Convenient Meals and Desserts
Featuring Representative Street Menus like Gimbap, Tteokbokki, and Hot Dogs

Daesang's global food brand O’food announced on the 11th that it is launching the 'Korean Street Food' line, which encompasses popular Korean street foods and representative snack menus, and is expanding the scope of K-food.

Daesang is presenting 'Korean Street Food' in two main categories: convenient meals and desserts. The meal category includes 7 items (a total of 20 varieties), adding 3 new items?gimbap, hot dogs, and jeon?to the existing dumplings, tteokbokki, fried seaweed rolls, and fish cake bars. The dessert category operates with 4 items (a total of 8 varieties), including the existing hotteok, bungeoppang, hodugwaja, and a new grain snack product.

Daesang’s strategy is to expand the reach of K-food mainly in major Western markets such as North America and Europe by promoting the 11 items in the 'Korean Street Food' line. Starting with entry into local ethnic markets and online channels, they plan to expand into major local channels in the future.

The item receiving the most focus is gimbap, which sparked the 'K-Gimbap craze' in the United States. Considering local consumer preferences, it will be launched in three varieties: vegetable, spicy fish cake, and japchae. The rice portion is reduced while the fillings are generously added to enhance a crunchy texture.

Tteokbokki, a leading K-snack, will also be offered in various flavors and forms tailored to local tastes, in addition to the existing gnocchi tteokbokki. These include 'Soup Hole Tteokbokki,' inspired by penne pasta with a hollow center that allows the sauce to soak in well, and 'King Garaetteok Soup Tteokbokki,' a thick style popular among foreign tourists at Gwangjang Market.

Lee Kyung-ae, Head of Daesang Food Global BU, said, "We will continue to launch differentiated products that meet the tastes and needs of people worldwide to expand the global K-food market."
