Inspection of Retaining Walls and Fences at 34 Public Facilities Including Cultural Centers and Daycare Centers, and Contracted Worksites from the 11th to 27th
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will conduct a special on-site inspection to prevent major accidents from March 11 to 27 at 34 locations, including public facilities and contracted project sites.
This inspection is specially planned to prevent safety accidents that may occur as the weather warms and the frozen ground thaws. It targets 24 public facilities frequently used by many citizens, such as cultural centers and daycare centers, as well as 10 Gangnam-gu contracted project sites, including electrical safety management services for rainwater pumping stations.
The joint inspection team, composed of related departments, will conduct 100% on-site visits. For six vulnerable facilities that have been specially managed based on the results of on-site inspections over the past two years, the retaining walls and fences will be thoroughly inspected together with architectural experts appointed as citizen auditors.
The main inspection items include ▲ cracks or collapse risks of retaining walls and fences around facilities and project sites ▲ ground subsidence around facilities and project sites ▲ safety management inspection related to the full-scale construction and project promotion during the thawing season ▲ inspection of hazardous and risk factors causing disasters at facilities and project sites.
Minor issues found during the inspection will be immediately addressed on-site. Public facilities will be improved within one month, and contracted project sites will be improved within two weeks.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “Through this special inspection, we plan to proactively identify and improve hazardous and risk factors caused by seasonal factors.” He added, “We will continue to prioritize the safety of residents and workers, conduct ongoing safety inspections and training for related personnel, and do our best to realize a ‘Zero-Accident Gangnam, Safe Gangnam.’”
