U.S. President Joe Biden is intensifying his offensive against former President Donald Trump. He publicly criticized Trump and the conservative-leaning Supreme Court.
In an interview with MSNBC aired on the 10th (local time), President Biden pointed out that although Hungary is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), former President Trump recently met with Hungary's authoritarian leader, Prime Minister Orb?n Viktor, who "does not believe in democracy."
He also targeted Trump's bombshell remark last month during a campaign rally, where Trump said that if NATO member countries do not spend 2% of their GDP on defense, the U.S. would not protect them if Russia attacks and would let Russia do as it wishes. Biden criticized this by saying, "This is happening amid a massacre resulting from Russia's invasion of Ukraine."
Referring to NATO's collective defense commitment, President Biden said, "We promised that such a war would never happen again after World War II," adding, "Look at what Trump is doing. He is dangerous."
President Biden also pointed out in his State of the Union address that "my predecessor (former President Trump) bowed to Putin."
Regarding his criticism of the Supreme Court's 2022 decision to overturn the 'Roe v. Wade' ruling during the State of the Union address on the 7th, with federal justices present, President Biden stated, "I believe they (the federal justices) made the wrong decision and misinterpreted the Constitution."
The 1973 'Roe v. Wade' ruling recognized women's right to abortion up to six months of pregnancy. The federal Supreme Court, reshaped with a conservative majority during Trump's administration, overturned this ruling and delegated the authority to decide on abortion rights to each state.
