'Return Match' Biden and Trump in a Neck-and-Neck Race in Recent Polls

According to Emerson College in the U.S. on the 10th (local time), a poll conducted on 1,350 voters from the 5th to 6th showed that both President Biden and former President Trump had an approval rating of 45%, resulting in a tie (margin of error ±2.6 percentage points).

This poll was conducted on the 'Super Tuesday' when major regional primaries were held and the following day, the 5th to 6th, and did not reflect President Biden's State of the Union address on the 7th.

President Biden had recorded a tie with former President Trump at 45% in September last year but began to fall behind from October. After the Super Tuesday on the 5th, a return match was confirmed, and for the first time in six months, a close race was created again with former President Trump.

The percentage of respondents who had not yet decided on a candidate was 10%. When asked which candidate they leaned toward, 51% of these respondents said they supported President Biden, which was 2 percentage points higher than former President Trump’s 49%.

Among President Biden’s supporters, when asked the reason for their support, 30% responded that it was because they disliked Trump, the highest proportion. This was followed by 'because they like Biden' (26%) and 'interest in policies/issues' (21%). On the other hand, among former President Trump’s supporters, the largest group at 33% said they supported him because they liked Trump. This was followed by 'interest in policies/issues' (31%) and 'to vote for my affiliated party' (15%). The percentage of respondents who said they supported Trump because they disliked Biden was only 12%.

In a multi-candidate race, former President Trump received 43% support, leading President Biden’s 42% by 1 percentage point. Following them were Robert Kennedy Jr. with 6%, Cornell West with 2%, and Jill Stein with 1%. The percentage of respondents with no preferred candidate was 7%.
