Seosi Sports Park, Muncheok-myeon Area
Opening Ceremony Reduced, Cultural Events Expanded
Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the ‘2024 Gurye 300-ri Cherry Blossom Festival’ will be held for three days from March 22 to 24 at Seosicheon Sports Park and the Muncheok-myeon area.
This year’s festival, held along the longest 300-ri cherry blossom road in the country, has become even richer and more fulfilling than last year.
Gurye-gun has enhanced photo zones and seating designs to meet the elevated expectations of tourists, and created healing spaces reflecting the latest trends along with LED video productions to help visitors capture their best photos.
The formal opening ceremony has been minimized as much as possible, while meaningful cultural events have been expanded.
All performers at the cherry blossom concert, including invited singers Gummy, Kassy, and Kim Churi, are participating in the hometown love donation program, and lecturer Choi Taesung will give a special lecture on the history of the Natural Monument No. 38 Hwaeomsa Old Cherry Tree and the history of Gurye.
Other events include a 300-ri cherry blossom road walk with cultural tourism guides, a cherry blossom photo contest where participants can show off photos taken with cherry blossoms on-site and receive gifts, busking performances at three cherry blossom spots, and an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) performance.
Famous trot singers Park Gun and Na Taeju will tour the region to discover talented amateur singers and hold the Taegun Singing Contest, where the best singing champion will be selected on the morning of the 30th at 10 a.m.
In the Muncheok-myeon area, various events such as Jansunongak (traditional farmers’ music), recreational activities involving tourists, cherry blossom singing contests, and local singer performances will take place, and a car-free street will be operated between Obongjeongsa and Wolpyeonggyo.
County Governor Kim Sunho said, “I hope everyone creates unforgettable memories with their loved ones at the abundant 300-ri Cherry Blossom Festival, just like the scattering petals.”
