The Busan Traditional Arts Center (located in Suyeong-gu) was selected as an "Excellent Institution" by the Cultural Heritage Administration for two consecutive years, 2022 and 2023.

The city prepared this program to provide citizens with the opportunity to directly experience Busan's culture through traditional craft experiences with eight Busan intangible cultural heritage masters, including embroidery masters, pottery masters, Buddhist painting masters, Hwahae masters, Seonhwa painters, Jiyun masters, seal carving masters, and wooden bell masters.

This program includes ▲Making traditional ornaments (embroidery master) ▲Painting Dancheong patterns (Buddhist painting master) ▲Making traditional ceramics (pottery master) ▲Making traditional flower shoes (Hwahae master) ▲Painting Seonhwa (Seonhwa painter) ▲Making wooden book covers (seal carving master) ▲Making traditional kites (Jiyun master) ▲Making wooden keyrings (wooden bell master). Participants can create and keep high-quality personal works through this experience.

The program will be held at the Busan Traditional Arts Center from April 9 to November 6, and recruitment for each program will be on a first-come, first-served basis starting from the 1st of each month. Applications can be made on the Busan Traditional Arts Center website.

Group classes are also available, and external on-site education can be conducted through prior consultation with the education manager. Both tuition and material costs are free, and for more details such as the education schedule, please inquire through the Busan Traditional Arts Center website and office.

Shim Jae-min, Director of the City’s Culture and Sports Bureau, stated, “Our city is not only committed to inheriting and preserving traditional culture but also strives to ensure that our cultural heritage continues as a sustainable value.” He added, “This program will be a great opportunity for citizens to directly feel our traditional culture through various experiences.”
