The White House stated, "With Sweden becoming a NATO ally, the United States and its allies will be safer," adding, "NATO is the most powerful defense alliance in world history, and just as the NATO alliance was established 75 years ago amid the ruins of World War II, it remains crucial today in ensuring the safety of our people."

Sweden, which applied for NATO membership in May 2022, fulfilled all membership requirements after Hungary’s parliament, the last of the existing 30 NATO member countries, approved the accession ratification bill on the 26th of last month. Only the formal submission of accession documents to the United States remains.
