CEO Jonrim's Compensation Also Increased by 45%
It has been revealed that the average annual salary of Samsung Biologics employees, who recorded record-breaking performance last year, reaches 100 million KRW.
According to Samsung Biologics' business report for last year, disclosed on the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 7th, the average compensation for employees excluding registered executives was 99 million KRW last year, a 7.6% increase from 92 million KRW the year before.
This is the highest level among companies in the same industry. As of 2022, the average annual salary of Celltrion and SK Bioscience was about 81 million KRW, and SK Biopharm's average salary was about 84 million KRW.
The salary of registered executive John Rim also increased. John Rim's compensation last year was 6.624 billion KRW, up 45% from the previous year.
Samsung Group has a 'Long-Term Incentive' (LTI) system that evaluates performance over three years and pays accordingly. Accordingly, incentives for John Rim's work performance from 2020 to 2022 were paid for the first time last year, leading to the salary increase.
The background of the salary increase was driven by Samsung Biologics' strong sales. Samsung Biologics has shown steady sales growth since its establishment and surpassed 3 trillion KRW in annual sales for the first time in the domestic industry in 2022. Last year, it set a new record with its best-ever performance of 3.6946 trillion KRW in annual sales and 1.1137 trillion KRW in operating profit.
