On the 6th (local time), major media outlets including the AP reported that the auction house Kerry Taylor Auctions put up 69 costumes actually worn by actors in movies and dramas for auction. Among them, the white linen shirt worn by Colin Firth was one of the most popular items. Initially, the auction house expected the shirt to sell for 10,000 pounds (about 17 million KRW), but the final bid was double the estimate at 20,000 pounds (about 34 million KRW).

The costume was made by the London-based theatrical costume company 'Cosprop,' and a label with the name Cosprop is attached inside the collar of the shirt. On the shirt worn by Colin Firth, there is a pen inscription below the label that reads "C. Firth." However, information about the buyer has not been disclosed. The buyer is expected to pay a total of 25,000 pounds (about 42.5 million KRW), including an auction fee of 5,000 pounds (about 8.5 million KRW).

In the 1995 drama of the same name adapted from Jane Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice," Colin Firth played the lead role of Mr. Darcy. In the drama, there is a scene where Colin Firth walks out wearing a wet shirt after swimming in a lake, which captivated viewers' hearts. This scene has continued to be talked about nearly 30 years later. It was once selected as the "most memorable moment in a British TV drama."

Following this scene, Colin Firth was dubbed "the sexiest man in the world" and "the most attractive male actor." Additionally, he won the Best Actor award in the TV drama category at the 1996 British Academy Awards for this work. The shirt sold at the auction was the very one worn in the "lake swimming" scene. Colin Firth was born in 1960 and was 35 years old during the filming of "Pride and Prejudice."

Besides this, all the costumes worn by Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, including boots and a velvet coat, were sold for a total of 25,000 pounds (about 43 million KRW) at the auction. Other notable items included a Christian Dior taffeta ball gown worn by Madonna in the movie "Evita" (1996), which sold for 40,000 pounds (about 68 million KRW), and the costume worn by Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane in the movie "Sleepy Hollow" (1999), which was sold for 24,000 pounds (about 40.7 million KRW). The proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Bright Foundation, an arts education charity established by Oscar-winning costume designer John Bright.
