Woori Technology Achieves Record-Breaking Performance... "Benefiting from the Rapid Rise of Power-Based Industries"

Woori Technology announced on the 7th through a disclosure of a change of more than 30% in sales or profit structure that its consolidated sales for last year reached a record high of 63.2 billion KRW. During the same period, operating profit and net profit recorded 6.7 billion KRW and 4.6 billion KRW, respectively, increasing by 39.11% and 36.74% compared to the same period last year.

This strong performance is due to sales growth in the nuclear power plant business based on the exclusive nuclear power plant control and instrumentation system (MMIS) technology. MMIS is a system that integrally manages the operation, control, monitoring, and instrumentation of nuclear power plants. Woori Technology is the only domestic company providing nuclear power plant MMIS and has supplied MMIS to Shin Hanul Units 1 to 4 and Saeul Units 3 and 4. MMIS will also be supplied for any additional nuclear power plants constructed in the future.

Woori Technology’s nuclear power plant business division is expected to continue growing this year. Last year, Woori Technology was selected as the exclusive supplier of the nuclear power plant control system for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4, achieving new orders exceeding 70 billion KRW. Sales for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 are expected to begin this year. In addition to new orders, parts and spare supplies will continue to be provided for existing nuclear power plants where MMIS has been delivered.

Besides the core nuclear power plant division, the defense and SOC (railroad) businesses also performed well, recording their highest-ever results. Last year, as overseas exports by domestic defense companies expanded, sales in the defense business also grew. In particular, the SOC business saw sales increase by 149% compared to the same period last year as the delivery of the PSD (Platform Screen Door) for the S?o Paulo Metro in Brazil, which was delayed due to COVID-19, began in earnest.

A Woori Technology official said, “Since the localization of MMIS, sales in the nuclear power plant business have stabilized as we have continuously built supply references for domestic nuclear power plants. With the large-scale order for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 last year, performance is expected to grow rapidly starting this year,” adding, “Recently, with the activation of artificial intelligence (AI) and data center industries, the importance of power infrastructure construction has been highlighted, increasing the likelihood of additional nuclear power plant construction.”

He continued, “Since Woori Technology’s MMIS will also be applied when exporting Korean-style nuclear power plants overseas, sales expansion is expected. While the defense and SOC businesses, which have expanded control and instrumentation technology, are accelerating growth, we will maximize performance in defense and SOC businesses through additional overseas market expansion,” he added.
