Mokpo National University Startup Innovation Center Announces 2024 MNU Makerspace Business Plan

The Startup Innovation Center at National Mokpo University (President Song Hacheol) announced on the 7th that it had presented the 2024 MNU Makerspace business plan to revitalize startups in the southwestern region of Jeonnam in collaboration with Muan County at the Muan County Youth Platform Youth Hall on the 6th.


At the event, attended by Kim San, Muan County Governor, Yoo Youngjae, Director of the National Mokpo University Startup Innovation Center, officials from Muan County's Future Growth Division and Youth Platform, various measures to revitalize startups were announced through the MNU Makerspace, including △strengthening manufacturing technology capabilities △startup support △startup growth support programs.

The MNU Makerspace operated by the National Mokpo University Startup Innovation Center achieved results last year with approximately 4,700 users annually, 352 operating programs, 2,650 equipment uses, 2,400 prototype production supports, 10 mass production supports, space support for 18 companies, 21 new startups, 22 jobs created, 750 million KRW in investment attraction, 43 cases of market development, 1.656 billion KRW in sales generation, and 57 product commercialization cases.


Furthermore, in 2024, it expressed its ambition to support successful startups targeting local residents, youth, and university students with excellent ideas to promote manufacturing startups.


In particular, to achieve zero failures in prototype advancement and mass production, it plans to operate successful prototype production programs such as △manufacturing startup support programs △maker star support △initial production and mass production support and linkage △sourcing directing support (design, manufacturing).


Additionally, it plans to operate △SMART education programs △local maker programs △maker experience and event programs to create an open maker startup ecosystem.


Kim San, Muan County Governor, said, “The MNU Makerspace is playing an increasingly important role every year through various prototype production, mentoring support, and startup education programs,” and added, “We will actively support the Mokpo University Startup Innovation Center so that it can lead to discovering startup companies and spreading startup culture.”


Director Yoo Youngjae stated, “This year as well, MNU Makerspace will provide various startup growth promotion programs and manufacturing startup spaces to revitalize startups, and offer full-cycle support programs for startup growth including investment, market development, and marketing.”
