On the 7th, Seoul National University stated, "We have applied to increase the pre-medical quota from the existing 135 to 150, adding 15 students," and added, "We aim to restore the 15 seats reduced during the separation of dispensing and prescribing and contribute to resolving essential public healthcare and regional medical service gaps."

They plan to establish a new 'Medical Science Department' to train physician-scientists who can contribute to basic health and advanced bio-health research.

Seoul National University explained, "Over the past 15 years, our university has operated various education and research programs to train physician-scientists rather than clinical doctors," and added, "We have also separately applied for 50 undergraduate seats on the premise of establishing the Medical Science Department in the 2025 academic year."

They further stated, "We will do our best to ensure that this application contributes to solving difficulties faced by the public while minimizing concerns raised by medical community members, including medical school students, professors, and hospital staff."
