SC Engineering, a comprehensive engineering specialist company, has achieved large-scale order success since the beginning of the year.
On the 7th, SC Engineering announced that it had secured the largest domestic “Hydrogen Gas Production Plant Construction Project” promoted by K&D Energen, a hydrogen gas manufacturing and sales company jointly established by industrial gas manufacturer and seller Deokyang Energen and specialty paraffin and special lubricant company Geukdong Yuhwa. The contract amount is a total of 92.4 billion KRW, marking the largest single project order in SC Engineering’s history.
This project involves K&D Energen building a hydrogen gas production plant with a capacity of 92,000 N㎥ (normal cubic meters) per hour, the largest commercial production facility in Korea, located in Onsan National Industrial Complex, Ulju-gun, Ulsan City. SC Engineering will undertake the entire EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) process. The contract period extends until April 2026.
The hydrogen produced here will initially be supplied to S-OIL, the primary consumer, and used as an essential industrial gas in petrochemical product manufacturing processes. S-OIL is currently promoting the “Shahin Project,” which involves constructing the largest petrochemical facility in Korea.
An SC Engineering official stated, “Our experience in constructing hydrogen gas production plants operating in Ulsan and Yeosu regions, combined with providing technical before-service support, closely aligned with the client’s needs, leading to this large-scale order. We will meet the client’s trust in our technology and experience by delivering the highest quality, efficiency, and optimal delivery times, and secure a solid competitive advantage in upcoming K&D Energen projects scheduled for order.”
The government, designating “hydrogen” as a national strategic technology, announced last December at the 6th Hydrogen Economy Committee plans to expand hydrogen electric vehicle distribution, aiming for 300,000 hydrogen vehicles and over 660 hydrogen charging stations by 2030.
Regarding this, Wang Dae-sik, Vice President of SC Engineering and head of the EPC business, emphasized, “Following the government’s hydrogen industry promotion policy as a national agenda, demand for hydrogen production infrastructure is expected to increase further. This order is anticipated to be a significant milestone that strengthens SC Engineering’s position in the domestic hydrogen production facility market, including Ulsan City, which accounts for more than 50% of the nation’s hydrogen production.”
He added, “We will leverage the strong order trend starting from the beginning of the year, traditionally the off-season for EPC projects, and the diversification of our order portfolio in hydrogen, secondary batteries, and semiconductors to lay the foundation for both external growth and internal stability this year.”
