Total Donations Amount to 4.367 Billion Won ... 1.2 Billion Increase Compared to Last Year
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) raised the largest amount of donations and goods ever in the 2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign, ranking first among Seoul's autonomous districts in fundraising. This is the highest amount ever recorded in Guro-gu as well as in Seoul.
The district carried out the 2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign from November 15 last year to February 14 this year, collecting 981 million KRW in cash donations, 3.386 billion KRW in goods, totaling approximately 4.367 billion KRW. This is an increase of 1.2 billion KRW compared to last year and 2.7 times the target amount of 1.6 billion KRW.
Donations came from all walks of life, ranging from 97,940 KRW saved in a piggy bank by Baek Ji-an, a student at Deok-ui Elementary School, to 703,000 KRW collected by children at Deokseong Daycare through secondhand and flea markets, 50 million KRW from Haeseong Gikong, vitamins from F&DiNet, and ramen from Yongin University Jun Taekwondo.
Those who made large or regular donations will later receive plaques of appreciation and certificates of gratitude. Departments with outstanding achievements will be awarded bonuses, and employees will receive commendations. In March, letters of thanks will be sent to donors to express gratitude.
A Guro-gu official stated, “Despite difficult circumstances such as rising prices, we were able to achieve good results thanks to the warm hearts of many donors who put their neighbors first,” and added, “We will strive to distribute the precious donations and goods evenly to those in need.”
