Naju City in Jeollanam-do is supporting tuition fees so that local middle and high school students can take unlimited online lectures from Gangnam District, Seoul (hereinafter Gangnam Online Lectures) for just 10,000 won.
The city announced on the 6th that from the 11th to the 17th, it will accept applications for tuition support for Gangnam Online Lectures from 300 middle and high school students and out-of-school youth (aged 13 to 18) within the district.
Gangnam Online Lectures offer over 1,600 courses year-round, covering school grades from middle school 1st grade to high school 3rd grade, including subjects for school exams and the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), taught by current teachers, EBS, and star instructors. Students can freely choose courses by difficulty level, grade, and subject, including concept completion, advanced learning, and problem-solving.
The annual tuition fee is 45,000 won, of which the Naju Future Education Support Center subsidizes 35,000 won. Applications for subsidies are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for 150 middle school students and 150 high school students each.
For socially disadvantaged groups such as basic livelihood security households, full tuition support is provided regardless of the order of application.
One account can be created per household, and ID sharing is allowed among siblings, enabling a single family to access both middle and high school courses.
Applications can be made by signing up as a member on the Naju Future Education Support Center website and applying through the main projects - program application section.
If selected as a beneficiary, applicants pay a personal contribution of 10,000 won, register on the Gangnam Online Lectures website, and enter the previously sent course coupon via mobile phone.
The course coupon allows unlimited use for one year after registration.
The Gangnam Online Lectures tuition support was established through a sisterhood agreement between Naju City and Gangnam District Office in October last year.
Through this agreement, Gangnam District promised to provide Naju students with opportunities such as inviting famous instructors, entrance exam consulting, and access to internet CSAT broadcasts.
Prior to this, on the 22nd and 23rd of last month, a ‘Gangnam Online Lectures Intensive Special Lecture for New Semester Preparation’ was held at the Bitgaram Radio Hall of the National Radio Research Agency located in Bitgaram-dong.
About 150 middle and high school students and parents attended, where Gangnam Online Lectures instructors, EBS instructors, and entrance exam experts were invited to provide learning strategies and customized admission know-how, receiving great responses.
The special lectures were conducted for high school students on the first day and middle school students on the second day, covering topics such as ‘Smart High School Math Study Methods,’ ‘2025-2026 College Entrance Strategies and School Record Tips,’ ‘Middle School Science Study Methods (Subtitle - Lives of Gangnam District Students),’ and ‘Understanding the High School Credit System and Surviving with K-Jungjing.’
A parent who attended the special lecture said, “It was a high-quality lecture that helped us proactively respond to the rapidly changing entrance exam system and greatly aided in setting up entrance strategies. We have high expectations as Gangnam Online Lectures, one of the leading educational cities in the metropolitan area, can now be easily accessed in Naju.”
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “Through this Gangnam online lecture tuition support, I hope students in Naju, not a metropolitan city, will have a valuable opportunity to improve their academic competitiveness.”
He added, “We will do our best to create a premium educational city in Naju by operating joint educational courses such as the high school credit system linked with public institutions relocated to the innovation city following the designation of the education development special zone, so that students can be nurtured as core talents needed for future jobs preferred by students and national development.”
