Lee Jae-myung: "Yoon, Illegal Election Manipulation... Do You Think Power Will Last Forever?"

Criticism of 'Government-Backed Election' in President Yoon's Livelihood Forum Tour
Lee Jae-myung: "What Is the Prosecution Doing... The People Will Surely Judge"
Hong Ik-pyo: "925 Trillion Won Overspending... Who Will Take Responsibility for the Budget?"

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, labeled President Yoon Seok-yeol's public discussion forums on livelihood issues as "government-directed elections." He then questioned, "What exactly are the Election Commission, police, and prosecution doing about this clear illegal election campaign?"

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 6th, Lee Jae-myung said, "The election is turning into a chaotic mess ahead of the general election," and criticized, "President Yoon Seok-yeol is holding meetings that he usually does not conduct, concentrating them intensively during the election period, blatantly pushing them through with an attitude of 'What are you going to do?'"

Lee said, "Now that they hold power, they seem to think they can cover everything up, and since they have both investigative and prosecutorial authority, they believe that even if complaints and accusations are made, it will be resolved with a dismissal of charges," adding, "History will remember this, and power is finite." He continued, "It may seem eternal, but even flowers do not last ten days," and said, "The people will surely hold them accountable someday for this chaotic lawlessness."

Hong Ik-pyo, floor leader of the Democratic Party, also pointed out, "From January 4th to yesterday (the 5th), President Yoon Seok-yeol held 17 livelihood discussion forums, during which 925 trillion won was recklessly spent," adding, "At this rate, 1,000 trillion won will soon be reached." He further criticized, "Announcing policies related to local pledges, small business owners, and youth at the livelihood forums is a meticulously calculated illegal government-directed election," and said, "They are recklessly making pledges without sufficient legal or cost review, and someone must answer who will take responsibility."

He continued, "Especially during the 17 (livelihood discussion forum) sessions, not a single opposition party leader was invited, turning it into a People Power Party election event with only the president, ruling party local leaders, and ruling party lawmakers participating," emphasizing, "The Election Commission must promptly start an investigation, stop such events as illegal election campaigns, and take legal action." He added, "Our people will no longer be deceived by such childish, unfulfillable pledges," and said, "We expect judgment on these illegal government-directed elections."
