Ulsan City, Ulsan Chamber of Commerce, SK Innovation, and Ulsan University Agreement
Improving Barren Industrial Landscape... Creating Artistic Attractions
Transforming Ulsan into a 'Kkuljaem City', Enhancing Industrial City Image
The gray and achromatic image of Ulsan's industrial complex will be transformed into a canvas of color art.
On the 6th at 3 p.m., Ulsan City signed a business agreement in the mayor's office with the Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SK Innovation, and Ulsan University to promote the 'Fun City Ulsan, Industrial Landscape Improvement Project.'
According to the agreement, Ulsan City will provide administrative support, the Ulsan Chamber of Commerce will create an environment for corporate participation, SK Innovation will support the planning and construction of the industrial landscape improvement project, and Ulsan University will cooperate in design consultation and collaboration.
This landscape improvement project will be promoted as an innovative initiative connecting industry and culture, proposed by SK Innovation.
As a project item, a round-shaped (6m in diameter) media art sculpture will be installed at the SK Innovation Ulsan CLX factory intersection in Nam-gu, Ulsan, visible from any direction day and night.
Additionally, along the roadside, famous domestic and international artists' artworks (urban graffiti) will be painted on petroleum storage tanks, aging factory buildings, and fences to create an artistic landscape street that adds art to industrial facilities.
Ulsan City expects that upon completion of this project, the negative perception of the gray industrial city will improve, and many people will visit to enjoy the 'fun' city.
The entire project cost will be borne by SK Innovation, with planning, art sculpture installation, and painting work scheduled to be completed by August.
Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan, said, "If the bleak gray industrial complex area is transformed into an art street combined with culture, it will become a representative industrial cultural tourist destination of Ulsan," adding, "We hope for active participation from companies, and Ulsan City will spare no administrative support to ensure the smooth progress of the project."
