Enhancing Talent Acquisition Efficiency and Considering Applicant Convenience

LG Group has launched efforts to secure technical talent through "predictable rolling recruitment" utilizing focused periods.


According to the business community on the 6th, LG is currently conducting recruitment procedures for new and experienced positions at seven affiliates including LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Chem, LG Energy Solution, LG Household & Health Care, LG CNS, and LG Magna through its recruitment website, "LG Careers."

The main recruitment fields include research and development (R&D) areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, software, automotive electrical and electronic equipment, next-generation battery development, and new material development aimed at creating future markets, as well as sales and marketing, and business planning and management.


This recruitment is being conducted as part of LG's "3·5·7·9 Recruitment Campaign," which was introduced in March last year. Since the second half of 2020, LG has shifted to rolling recruitment by affiliate. Accordingly, March, May, July, and September of each year are designated as "focused recruitment periods," during which LG affiliates intensively announce job postings for general positions, research positions, and internship-to-employment conversion roles for new graduates and experienced workers on LG Careers.


This recruitment process is gaining attention as it enhances the efficiency of securing talent for future preparation while considering the convenience of applicants. Rolling recruitment allows affiliates to post job openings as needed by job function and select talent accordingly, but applicants face the inconvenience of having to frequently visit the recruitment site to check postings since the timing of announcements is unpredictable.


Earlier, in September 2022, HR tech company Incruit conducted a survey of 488 job seekers, revealing that 86.0% of respondents found it inconvenient to prepare for employment due to the unpredictability of job posting dates (30.9% very inconvenient, 55.1% somewhat inconvenient).


Not only LG but also other companies are operating recruitment systems that enhance applicant convenience. Lotte Group announced that it will introduce a "predictable rolling recruitment" system, an integrated recruitment system for new employees, starting this year.


Having abolished the open recruitment system in 2021 and introduced rolling recruitment, Lotte Group plans to allow applicants to check all affiliates currently recruiting at once by accessing the integrated Lotte Group recruitment page in March, June, September, and December each year. The quarterly recruitment schedule will be flexibly adjusted considering the academic calendar of prospective graduates.


Hyundai Motor Company, which was the first among major conglomerates to introduce rolling recruitment in 2019, is also recruiting new employees collectively through its recruitment website in the last month of each quarter (March, June, September, December) under the principle of "predictable continuous recruitment."
