Promotion of Comprehensive Social Welfare Center Construction on the Site of Lifelong Learning Center in Gaebong-dong, Guro-gu

Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) held the "Feasibility Study Final Report Meeting" for the additional construction of a comprehensive social welfare center on the 3rd floor Renaissance Hall of the district office on the 4th.

The district announced that it is actively promoting the expansion project of the comprehensive social welfare center as a campaign pledge of the 8th local government term to support residents' healthy aging.

Currently, all three comprehensive social welfare centers operated in Guro-gu (Guro 2-dong, Guro 3-dong, Sugung-dong) are located in peripheral areas, causing inconvenience for residents of Gocheok-dong and Gaebong-dong, located in the central part of the district, who have to travel long distances to use the welfare centers.

Accordingly, the district prioritized residents' accessibility and selected the site of the lifelong learning center in Gaebong-dong as the construction location, starting the feasibility study for construction in September last year.

The Gaebong-dong comprehensive social welfare center is planned to be built with a total floor area of over 4,550㎡, aiming to provide various welfare services needed by residents as well as an indoor swimming pool.

Furthermore, Guro-gu's fourth comprehensive social welfare center is scheduled to begin construction in 2026 and open in the second half of 2028.

A Guro-gu official stated, "If the comprehensive social welfare center is built in Gaebong-dong, residents of Gocheok-dong and Gaebong-dong will be able to use the welfare center more conveniently than before," adding, "We will do our best to promote the additional construction."
