The district held the ‘Educational Expense Subsidy Deliberation Committee’ on the 20th of last month and resolved to provide 7 billion KRW in educational expense subsidies.

Since the 8th term of the elected administration, it has promised full support to kindergartens and elementary, middle, and high schools in the area to discover talent and create a high-quality educational environment. This year, the educational expense subsidy was increased by 2 billion KRW from last year’s 5 billion KRW to 7 billion KRW, accelerating the creation of a pleasant and safe public education environment.

In particular, this year, emphasis was placed on improving the educational environment and facilities by actively reflecting the opinions of schools and parents.

By sector, the budget was confirmed as follows: ▲ 4.3 billion KRW for educational site facilities and environment improvement projects ▲ 1.5 billion KRW for kindergarten and school specialized projects ▲ 1 billion KRW for demand-centered support projects such as education activity coordinators ▲ 200 million KRW for contingency funds.

In addition, 5.6 billion KRW is allocated for eco-friendly meal support, 400 million KRW for new student enrollment preparation funds, and 300 million KRW for free high school education support, ensuring students can study with peace of mind.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have significantly expanded the educational expense budget so that children can study in better environments. We will continue to do our best to create the optimal educational environment through constant communication with schools.”

Meanwhile, the district is leading efforts to create an educational environment enjoyed by all without discrimination by operating various programs such as native speaker video English and online learning for elementary students.
