Environmental Cleanup of District-Managed Facilities Including Roads and Alleys for Two Weeks Until March 15
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) has launched a 'Spring Cleaning' campaign.
The district has designated a two-week period from March 4 to March 15 for thorough cleaning, focusing on main roads and side streets with heavy foot traffic, parks, riversides, and all facilities managed by the district to remove the grime accumulated over the winter.
The main cleaning activities include ▲ clearing illegally dumped trash from side streets and alleys ▲ water washing and dust cleaning of roads ▲ leaf removal in parks and roadside green belts ▲ maintenance of rainwater drains ▲ environmental cleanup around construction sites ▲ and maintenance of abandoned bicycles.
On March 5, Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, visited Dapsimni 2-dong and joined employees, residents, and volunteer groups in cleaning various parts of the neighborhood to lend support.
Along with the spring cleaning, the Dongdaemun-gu Cleaning Administration Department will reorganize the work methods of environmental officers starting in March to initiate 'side street patrol cleaning.'
According to the new work method, environmental officers will be assigned to clean side streets in four neighborhoods per day, focusing on habitual illegal dumping areas identified by the neighborhood community centers. This aims to break the vicious cycle of "cleaning only to have the area get dirty again" and maintain a consistently clean environment.
Kim Kwang-hoon, head of the Dongdaemun-gu Cleaning Administration Department, stated, "We will do our best to create a pleasant and safe street environment throughout Dongdaemun-gu, from main roads to alleys."
