Netflix Announces New Singer Debut Project

Actor Jo Jung-suk (43), known for his solid vocal skills as a former musical actor, is making his debut as a singer through Netflix. Netflix's "Rookie Singer Jo Jung-suk" is a debut project for Jo Jung-suk, who has 20 years of experience.


His close friend Jung Sang-hoon serves as the entertainment company CEO, and comedian Moon Sang-hoon also lends a hand. The project will include evaluations of original songs by legendary singers, album concept planning, and promotions. Junior actor Moon Sang-hoon also contributes his support.

On the 5th, Netflix stated, "Jo Jung-suk’s rookie singer debut project, utilizing his 20 years of connections and skills, will unfold spectacularly," adding, "Legendary artists whose names alone make people gasp will evaluate Jo Jung-suk’s original songs, and bold album concept planning and promotions will take place."


Meanwhile, is directed by PD Yang Jung-woo, known for the series 'New Journey to the West,' 'Youth Over Flowers,' and 'Wise Life.' PD Yang Jung-woo is collaborating again with Jo Jung-suk and Jung Sang-hoon after 8 years since 'Youth Over Flowers ICELAND' (2016).


Previously, Jo Jung-suk launched a YouTube channel called 'Cheonggyesan Daengi Records.' Within about a month, it surpassed 250,000 subscribers. Claiming to be Jo Jung-suk AI, he uploaded cover videos of his wife, singer Gummy (42)’s "Please Don’t Forget Me," IU’s "Love Wins All," and Park Hyo-shin’s "Wild Flower," sparking curiosity.


He is known as an all-rounder actor who has conquered movies, dramas, and musicals. Jo Jung-suk debuted in 2004 with the musical 'The Nutcracker' and gained great love through various works such as 'Hedwig' and 'Spring Awakening.' His versatile charm, based on solid acting skills, has shone on both screen and drama. He has demonstrated acting across genres in films like 'Exit,' 'The Face Reader,' 'Architecture 101,' and dramas such as 'Spy,' 'The Enchanted,' 'Hospital Playlist,' and 'Green Bean Flower.'
