Hamyang-gun Recruits Vehicles to Participate in Carbon Neutrality Point System for Cars

First-come, first-served for people in their 50s until March 15

Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is recruiting participants on a first-come, first-served basis until the 15th for the 'Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System,' which provides incentives to drivers in the area who reduce their driving distance.

The Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System is an expanded program of the carbon neutrality point system, which was previously implemented for buildings such as homes and commercial establishments to promote the reduction of greenhouse gases in daily life, now extended to the automobile sector.

The eligible participants are non-commercial passenger cars and vans with 12 seats or fewer registered in Hamyang-gun, and this year, 50 vehicles will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis.

However, eco-friendly vehicles (electric, hydrogen, hybrid, etc.), commercial vehicles, and vehicles owned by corporations or organizations are excluded, and only one vehicle per person (based on the owner) can participate.

Participation performance is evaluated based on the rate and amount of driving distance reduction, and incentives ranging from 20,000 KRW to a maximum of 100,000 KRW can be received according to the results.

Those wishing to participate can sign up on the Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System website and submit photos of their vehicle license plate and the odometer showing cumulative mileage.

A county official said, “We hope many will participate in the Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System, which helps reduce greenhouse gases, spread an eco-friendly driving culture, and provides incentives.”
