Namhae Bridge Landscape Lighting Ceremony and Fireworks Expectation
Last year, the ‘Blooming Namhae’ festival was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of Namhae Bridge, and this year it welcomes residents and tourists with an even richer program.
In particular, the ‘Namhae Bridge Landscape Lighting,’ created as part of the Namhae Bridge tourism resource development project, will be unveiled for the first time, and the fireworks display, which received high praise from visitors last year, will also be held, allowing people to fully experience the spring night atmosphere of ‘Noryang’ harmonized with cherry blossoms.
The subtitle of this year’s ‘Blooming Namhae’ festival is ‘Spring of Noryang.’ It plans to further highlight the significance of ‘Noryang,’ the site of Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s last victory, and ‘Chungnyeolsa,’ where the spirit of the admiral is enshrined.
On the first day of the festival, the 23rd, a children’s drawing contest featuring about 100 elementary school students will be held at Chungnyeolsa Plaza in the morning.
Then, from 1 PM to 2 PM, writer Choi Tae-sung, who has appeared on numerous TV history programs delivering Korean history in a deep and engaging way, will hold a history concert on the theme of ‘Namhae County and Yi Sun-sin.’
After the history concert, the ‘Nampalanggil Sea Cherry Blossom Path Walking Event’ will take place. Participants can enjoy the spectacular views of Noryang created by Namhae Bridge and the sea, along with a feast of cherry blossoms. The program involves a 2 to 2.5-hour walk around Namhae Bridge and Noryang Bridge, starting from Chungnyeolsa Plaza.
The highlight of this event is undoubtedly the Namhae Bridge landscape lighting ceremony and the fireworks display. The Namhae Bridge landscape lighting will be revealed for the first time on this day.
The fireworks display is also highly anticipated. While last year’s fireworks were launched from a sightseeing boat, this year they will be launched from the deck of Namhae Bridge. It is expected to create a beautiful harmony with the Namhae Bridge landscape lighting. On the evening of the 23rd, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Namhae Bridge will be closed for about an hour during the fireworks display.
On the 24th, a variety of events will continue. A busking performance is scheduled.
Also, Kwon Won-tae, who gained attention for his role in the film The King and the Clown, will perform tightrope walking at Chungnyeolsa Plaza.
At Namhaegak, a ‘Namhae County Tourism Calendar Special Exhibition’ will be held. Visitors can see in one place the photos from the Namhae County tourism calendars produced since 2011, which have showcased the beautiful scenery of Namhae County.
Additionally, a local seller flea market will be held, and night landscape lighting will be installed along Wangji Cherry Blossom Road, known as a beautiful cherry blossom spot, allowing visitors to enjoy the cherry blossoms at night as well.
Governor Jang Chung-nam said, “As this year’s Blooming Namhae program is even richer, I hope many people will come and create beautiful spring memories in Noryang.”
