Eunpyeong-gu Expands Insurance Support Covering Up to 50 Million KRW for Electric Wheelchair Accidents

Seoul Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that from this month, the coverage limit for electric wheelchair accident insurance will be expanded to a maximum of 50 million KRW.

The electric mobility device insurance support targets registered disabled residents of Eunpyeong-gu, elderly people aged 65 or older, and other mobility-impaired individuals who use manual or electric wheelchairs and electric scooters.

If you have an address in Eunpyeong-gu, you are automatically enrolled without any separate registration process or insurance premium.

The coverage includes bodily injury and property damage caused to third parties by wheelchairs (manual and electric) and electric scooters, excluding relatives and family members, with a maximum coverage amount of up to 50 million KRW.

In particular, compared to last year, the deductible has been reduced from 50,000 KRW to 30,000 KRW, and the maximum coverage amount has been significantly increased from 20 million KRW to 50 million KRW. This aims to reduce the financial burden on disabled users of electric mobility devices and ensure sufficient compensation for victims.

For more details, inquiries can be made via the dedicated electric mobility device insurance consultation phone line at WheelchairKorea.com or the Disability Welfare Division of Eunpyeong-gu Office. Information is also available on the WheelchairKorea.com website.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, “With this electric mobility device insurance support, we hope to guarantee a safe mobility environment without financial burden for disabled people, thereby improving their quality of life,” and added, “We hope that disabled individuals will be able to participate more actively in daily life.”
