Homeplus announced on the 4th that it recorded the highest-ever sales level on the first day of the 'HomeRun' event, which started on the 1st.


HomeRun is an exclusive sale event held by Homeplus to celebrate its 27th anniversary.

According to Homeplus, from the first weekend of the event, the 1st to the 3rd, sales at major Homeplus Mega Food Market stores increased by 115% compared to the same period last month, and the number of customers rose by 53%. The number of new customers also increased, with about 70,000 new members joining the MyHomeplus membership over the past three days, a 209% surge compared to the same period last month.


Regarding this, Homeplus explained, "We believe that carefully selecting a variety of category products reflecting customer preferences and demand, along with securing price competitiveness that customers can actually feel amid the ongoing high inflation, were key factors." They added, "All channels including marts, online, malls, and Express participated, fully leveraging the strengths of each channel, and our accumulated capabilities and know-how over 27 years were fully mobilized to maximize customer convenience, which also contributed to the success."


During this HomeRun event, ultra-low-priced promotional products such as strawberries and 'Bomeokdae Samgyeopsal' (pork belly) were very popular. In particular, 'Bomeokdae Samgyeopsal' was sold at a price of 990 KRW per 100g, with 220 tons sold over three days.


The domestically produced refrigerated chicken 'Dangdang Old-fashioned Whole Chicken (1 piece)' was priced at 4,990 KRW and sold out all prepared stock, with chicken category sales jumping 51% compared to the same period last month. In addition, sales increased mainly for essential basket items frequently purchased by customers, such as 'Daeran (30 eggs)' and 'Daepa (green onions)'.


Furthermore, popular whiskey and wine products such as 'Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak', 'Balvenie 14 Year Caribbean Cask', 'Wild Turkey 12 Year', 'Opus One 2019', and 'Sena 2017', which were sold in limited quantities from the 1st to the 3rd, also gained popularity. During this period, whiskey sales increased by 170% and wine sales by 210% compared to the same period last month.


Homeplus plans to offer items such as strawberries and pork belly at half price or with one-plus-one (1+1) benefits during the second week of the ongoing HomeRun event.


Kim Sangjin, Head of Trade Marketing at Homeplus, said, "Thanks to the enthusiastic response from customers, HomeRun recorded the highest-ever sales level on the first day of the event and continues to see a rush of customers. Since this event continues throughout March, we will continue to offer a variety of discounted products that allow customers to feel the benefits of low prices during the remaining period."
