Hapcheon-gun Successfully Concludes the '2024 Spring National High School Soccer Tournament'

Proving Itself as a Soccer Mecca City After 15 Days of Intense Competition

Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 4th that the prestigious nationwide high school soccer tournament, the ‘2024 Spring National High School Soccer Tournament,’ successfully concluded its 15-day fierce competition with Chungnam Sinpyeong High School winning the championship.

Hosted by the Korea Football Association and organized by the Gyeongsangnam-do Football Association and Hapcheon-gun Football Association, this tournament featured 40 teams, where high school players who will lead the future of Korean soccer showcased their honed skills without reservation.

The final match, broadcast live nationwide on YouTube on the 1st, was between Chungnam Sinpyeong High School and Gyeongbuk Yeongdeok High School. Sinpyeong High School defeated Yeongdeok High School 1-0 to claim the Spring Tournament championship trophy.

In the individual awards category, the honors went to ▲ Most Valuable Player: Lee Ju-ho of Sinpyeong High School ▲ Outstanding Player: Park Min-seo of Yeongdeok High School ▲ Top Scorer: Lee Seung-min of Jungkyung High School ▲ Offensive Award: Choi On-yu of Sinpyeong High School ▲ Defensive Award: Kim Chae-woon of Yeongdeok High School ▲ Goalkeeper Award: Ham Seung-joo of Sinpyeong High School ▲ Best Young Player Award: Lee Hyun-gi of Sinpyeong High School. The Best Coach Award was bestowed upon Sinpyeong High School’s head coach Yoo Yang-jun and coach Yoon Dong-min.

Additionally, Hapcheon-gun enjoyed a special economic boost in the local economy sectors such as lodging and restaurants due to the long stays of participating teams and their families during the tournament. It is also expected to have significant indirect effects on the sales promotion of local agricultural and specialty products as well as the tourism industry.

County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol stated, “Despite the cold spring weather, about 2,000 people including players and parents visited Hapcheon during the tournament, revitalizing the local economy during the off-season.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to solidify Hapcheon’s position as a soccer mecca by building stadium infrastructure that meets the demands of hosting tournaments and creating healing spaces for participating teams and coaches.”

Meanwhile, many teams that participated in winter training camps in Hapcheon-gun recently achieved remarkable success by producing championship teams in recent tournaments (Winter training camp visiting team Dongmyeong University 1st and 2nd year students won the Hansan Great Victory Tournament), once again proving that Hapcheon-gun is undoubtedly the optimal location for winter training camps.
