[Polpol News] Realmeter "People Power Party Approval Rating 46.7%... Leading Democratic Party Beyond Margin of Error for the First Time in a Year"

The People Power Party (PPP) has surpassed the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) beyond the margin of error for the first time in a year, according to the regular Realmeter public opinion poll.


According to the poll released by Realmeter on the 4th (conducted on behalf of Energy Economy Newspaper from the 28th to 29th of last month, surveying 1,001 voters aged 18 and over nationwide via automated calls to both landlines and mobiles), the PPP rose 3.2 percentage points from last week's party support survey to 46.7%, leading the DPK by 7.6 percentage points. The DPK’s support rate fell for the fourth consecutive week, dropping 0.4 percentage points to 39.1%.

Realmeter stated, "Since the second week of February 2023 (PPP 45% - DPK 39.9%, margin of error ±2.0 percentage points), for the first time in a year, the PPP showed a support rate higher than the DPK beyond the margin of error (±3.1%)." The Reform New Party declined by 1.2 percentage points to 3.1%, the New Future Party stood at 1.6%, the Progressive Party dropped 0.5 percentage points to 1.1%, and the Green Justice Party fell 1.4 percentage points to 0.7%.


Support for the PPP increased in regions such as Seoul (up 10.5 percentage points, from 37.5% to 48.0%) and Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (up 9.0 percentage points, from 52.4% to 61.4%). Conversely, the DPK saw declines in these areas, with Seoul dropping 9.0 percentage points (from 40.5% to 31.5%) and Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam falling 2.6 percentage points (from 30.3% to 27.7%).


President Yoon Suk-yeol’s approval rating for his administration slightly decreased. According to the evaluation of President Yoon’s performance (conducted on behalf of Energy Economy Newspaper from the 26th to 29th of last month, surveying 2,006 voters aged 18 and over nationwide via automated calls to both landlines and mobiles), his approval rating dropped 0.8 percentage points to 41.1%. The disapproval rating rose 0.6 percentage points to 55.4%.
