"Making Money Using Lee Kang-in"... Directly Revealing Channel Earnings

"I am not a fan of Lee Kang-in personally, but a supporter of both Lee Kang-in and Paris Saint-Germain, so I was surprised by the insults."

Fabien, a French-born broadcaster active in Korea, shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Lee Kang-in’s alleged ‘senior assault’ incident during the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup. Fabien is known as a long-time fan of Paris Saint-Germain. Since Lee Kang-in’s transfer was confirmed, he has been running a YouTube channel named ‘Paris Saint-Germain’ (Parisaengjeremaeng).

Fabien has often been targeted by malicious comments whenever he publicly supported footballer Lee Kang-in.

On the 2nd, Fabien held a live broadcast titled ‘PSG (Paris Saint-Germain)/Lee Kang-in/Heartfelt Confession’ on his YouTube channel ‘Parisaengjeremaeng.’ During the broadcast, he joked about the backlash he received after an article claimed Lee Kang-in had a dispute with Son Heung-min, saying, “There were many comments telling me to ‘go back to your country,’ so I returned from Qatar to Korea,” revealing his feelings about the negative comments.

He said, "I am not Lee Kang-in, but someone who supports Lee Kang-in and Paris Saint-Germain, so I was surprised by the insults," adding, “Thank you for the support. If it was tough, it would have been a source of strength. I am grateful to realize that there are reliable people by my side. I’m fine, so don’t worry.”

He continued, “There were many issues in Korean football, including the Asian Cup results and the disputes. We hoped for an Asian Cup victory and a beautiful team, but both the coach and players quarreled, which worried many football fans including myself,” and added, “Fortunately, things have now somewhat settled down.”

"Hope Lee Kang-in Performs Well"

Regarding Lee Kang-in, he said, “People’s disappointment and dislike are inevitable, but I always support our team’s players,” and “I support not only South Korean players but also Paris Saint-Germain players, so I hope Lee Kang-in performs well.”

He added, “Anyone can make mistakes,” and “We have no knowledge about this incident.”

Fabien read a comment from the chat saying, “If Son Heung-min and Lee Kang-in have reconciled, that’s the end. No need to argue,” and agreed, saying, “That’s right. I think so too.” He then said, “Since they have resolved it themselves, let’s just support them going forward.”

Fabien also revealed that during the controversy, many malicious comments on his social media accused him of “making money off Lee Kang-in.” He explained, “Many people think I must have earned a lot of money, but actually, YouTube is running at a loss,” and disclosed his actual earnings.

Fabien explained, “Last month, I uploaded many videos related to the Qatar Asian Cup, and many of them had high view counts.” According to the statistics from Fabien’s YouTube studio, he uploaded a total of seven videos in the past month, with a cumulative view count of 1,327,000. Fabien added, “Over one million views a month is a view count that many YouTubers envy.”

The estimated revenue is 2.4 million KRW. Fabien said, “After deducting about 30% tax from 2.4 million KRW, about 1.6 million KRW remains,” and explained that since he pays editors over 2 million KRW monthly and covers all content production costs including overseas match attendance out of pocket, he is operating at a loss.

He added, “I didn’t start YouTube to make money. I have no intention of making money. Although many ads come in, I don’t run them,” and clarified, “There are no PPL-type advertisements in my videos. I just want to talk about football in a fun way.”
