"You Will Feel the Weight of the Crown"
"Are you happy these days?"
On the 2nd, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, appeared on Coupang Play's 'SNL Korea' and warned Han Dong-hoon, emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, about being used and discarded.
When asked to deliver a "video letter to the person who might be discarded," Lee said, "Are you happy these days? Many people sat in that seat, including myself. You should think about what it means to do well beyond that. You will feel the weight of the crown. Good luck."
This is Lee’s third appearance on SNL. Previously, he appeared twice in the 'Reporter Joo Goes' segment in December 2021 before the 20th presidential election and in March 2022 right after the election.
In this appearance, when asked about a four-character idiom (Sajaseong-eo) that comes to mind from Ahn Cheol-soo, Kim Ki-hyun, Lee Jun-seok, and Han Dong-hoon, he answered "Tosagupaeng" (used and discarded). When asked if he thought "that person" would survive, he said, "If the results are bad, he will be discarded like dung." This was interpreted as referring to Chairman Han.
Also, when asked "Between the person who said their party leader is more handsome than Cha Eun-woo and the person who waited for 30 minutes making eye contact before giving a brief greeting, who is more of a flatterer?" he answered "the latter." This was a criticism referring to Chairman Han’s conflict with Yongsan over First Lady Kim Geon-hee’s luxury bag and the process of meeting President Yoon Seok-yeol at a snowy fire scene to greet and reconcile.
He continued, "Both sides are leaders, but one bowed. Then a hierarchical relationship forms within the organization. That is reckless," pointing out the issue of the relationship between the presidential office and the ruling party.
When asked if he would join hands again with Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the New Future Party, on February 9, he replied, "It was a fate that we should have lived separately, but the document was signed too hastily."
Meanwhile, Lee announced that he will run for the April 10 general election in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. On his Facebook, he said, "I will challenge Hwaseong Dongtan 2 New Town, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, full of future, in this general election." Gyeonggi Hwaseong carries the meaning of building a joint front for the 'semiconductor belt' with fellow Reform New Party lawmakers.
