Gyeongbuk Election Commission to Hold By-Elections for Four Regional and Local Assembly Seats Alongside General Election... Yeongyang, Uljin, Gimcheon, Uiseong

The Gyeongbuk Election Commission announced on the 3rd that in the Gyeongbuk region, the by-elections for metropolitan and basic council members will be held simultaneously in four constituencies during the 22nd National Assembly election on April 10.

The by-elections include two metropolitan council seats in Yeongyang and Uljin, and two basic council seats in Gimcheon City Na constituency (Bongsan-myeon, Daehang-myeon, Guseong-myeon, Jirye-myeon, Buhang-myeon, Daedeok-myeon, Jeungsan-myeon) and Uiseong-gun Da constituency (Danchon-myeon, Bongyang-myeon, Sinpyeong-myeon, Anpyeong-myeon, Ansam-myeon).

This by-election area was confirmed by February 29 as requiring an election due to invalidation of election results or resignation.

Civil servants or others who wish to become candidates in the by-election must resign by the 11th, which is 30 days before the election day. The resignation date is considered the date the resignation letter is received by the affiliated institution, regardless of acceptance.

The election schedule is the same as the simultaneous National Assembly election. Candidate registration applications can be submitted on the 21st and 22nd from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and official election campaigning begins on the 28th. Early voting will be held on April 5 and 6, with voting hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both the election day and early voting days.

Voters in the by-election areas will receive an additional ballot paper for the by-election along with the ballot paper for the 22nd National Assembly election when voting.
