Gyeonggi International Boat Show Opens on the 8th... Korea's Largest Marine Leisure Industry Comprehensive Exhibition

The Gyeonggi International Boat Show will be held from the 8th to the 10th at KINTEX in Goyang City.

Marking its 17th edition this year, the Gyeonggi International Boat Show is the largest comprehensive marine leisure industry exhibition in Korea, where visitors can explore a wide range of domestic and international products including leisure vessels such as yachts and boats, marine leisure equipment and supplies, and marine tourism.

This year, a surfing-themed pavilion has been newly established for the rapidly growing surfing community, expanding marine leisure categories by exhibiting surfing equipment and related goods, as well as offering water rescue methods and various surfing education programs.

Additionally, to revitalize Korea’s boat manufacturing industry, eight mock-ups of award-winning boat designs promoted by the Korea Society of Marine Design will be exhibited, along with about 40 award-winning works from the marine leisure photography and short-form contest aimed at boosting marine tourism, which will be showcased to boat manufacturers and the public.

Notably, on the 8th, an international conference will be held featuring presentations on the global marine leisure industry and the Asian boating industry by Joe Lynch, CEO of the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA), and YP Lok, Chairman of the Singapore Boating Industry Association (SBIA).

There will also be various marine leisure experience events, including upcycling workshops where families can enjoy eco-friendly marine leisure culture together, and hovercraft-making workshops where participants can build boat models themselves.

Gong Jeong-sik, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Life Sciences, stated, “This year, we have prepared to enhance the competitiveness of the marine leisure industry by hosting a wider variety of marine leisure categories and diverse domestic and international conferences.”
