Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced that following Seoul City's re-notification of the 'Urban Management Plan (Use District: Height District) Decision (Change) (Draft)' for the new height district reorganization plan around Namsan on the 29th of last month, resident review and opinion collection will be conducted until the 14th of this month.
This re-notification is being carried out in accordance with Article 28 of the National Land Planning and Utilization Act (Hearing of Opinions from Residents and Local Councils), which stipulates that if there are major changes in the originally announced content, it must be re-opened for review and opinions collected.
The current amendment (draft), reflecting the results of the 2024 first Seoul City Urban Planning Committee review held in January (approved with modifications), includes the application of landscape management guidelines, allowing height relaxation below the Sowol-ro road surface through committee review when promoting redevelopment projects.
Accordingly, the district plans to support residents by placing re-examination materials such as books and drawings related to the Namsan height district reorganization (draft) on-site to facilitate easier access for residents.
The re-examination materials have been available for review since the 1st for a total of 14 days not only at the Yongsan-gu Office Urban Planning Division but also at the five community service centers included in the height district: Huam-dong, Yongsan 2-ga-dong, Itaewon 1-dong, Itaewon 2-dong, and Hannam-dong.
Residents with opinions can submit them in writing at the review locations by the deadline of the 14th. Detailed information can also be found on the Seoul City website announcement or the Seoul City Urban Planning Portal's Notices/Announcements board.
After this re-notification, Seoul City plans to finalize and announce the 'Urban Management Plan (Use District: Height District) Decision (Change) (Draft)' within the first half of the year.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, “Since the area around Namsan has been designated as a height district for 30 years causing inconveniences, residents are expected to have much interest and curiosity about this re-notification content. We will continuously urge Seoul City to reflect residents’ opinions hoping for additional height restriction relaxations as much as possible.”
Meanwhile, the district held 'New Height District Reorganization (Draft) Resident Briefings' in two zones on the 6th and 7th of last month to address residents’ questions regarding the relaxation of the Namsan height district.
