Held every second Saturday from March to November
1:1 Customized mentoring between current employees at Samsung Electronics Suwon Campus and young job seekers
Providing company information and career counseling based on actual job roles
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will operate the 'Gwanak-gu X Samsung Electronics Youth Employment Mentoring' program starting March 9, launching a full-scale support initiative for youth employment.
The 'Youth Employment Mentoring' is part of Samsung Electronics' social contribution projects and is conducted through talent donation by current employees at the Suwon Plant (DX division).
Since 2012, the district has been promoting employment mentoring programs for young people. Up to 2023, a total of 105 sessions have been held, with 667 youths participating as mentees, receiving great responses.
This year, mentoring sessions are scheduled to take place on the second Saturday of every month until November.
Mentors and mentees participating in the mentoring meet via non-face-to-face video conferencing (ZOOM) without spatial restrictions, allowing them to communicate comfortably on various topics such as ▲company and job information ▲career counseling ▲interview preparation without a fixed format.
Mentors are assigned based on the mentees' desired job roles, and each mentoring session lasts about one hour. Since mentors and mentees meet one-on-one, more honest and in-depth conversations are possible.
The district recruits about 10 young mentees two weeks before each session starts every month.
Youths wishing to participate can apply by attaching an application form on the Gwanak-gu Office website (Participation/Reservation → Lecture/Event Reservation).
The district operates various employment support programs for job-seeking youths.
From July to December last year, the district provided free 'Interview Image Consulting,' which included taking ID photos and hair and makeup styling necessary for interviews, and plans to resume this service from July this year. In particular, in the second half of this year, the district plans to newly introduce a 'Language and Certification Exam Fee Support Project' necessary for employment.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Through employment mentoring, I hope many young people in our district can alleviate their questions and concerns about employment and career paths even a little.” He added, “Furthermore, as the 'No.1 Youth City Nationwide' with a youth population ratio of 41%, we will discover and operate various employment support programs to help young people succeed in employment.”
