Inspection of Safety-Vulnerable Facilities Such as Construction Sites and Steep Slopes by March 22 for Prompt Hazard Mitigation
Preparation for New Thaw Season Disasters Accompanied by Heavy Rain, Expanding Inspection Targets to Apartment Stone Walls and Park Slopes
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will conduct safety inspections on 188 facilities, including construction sites, steep slopes, retaining walls and stone walls, and aging buildings, from February 26 to March 22 in preparation for the thawing season.
During the thawing season (February to April), as the weather warms up, the frozen ground melts, increasing the risk of safety accidents such as facility collapse, toppling, and falling rocks. In particular, since temperatures are expected to rise sharply in March, it is necessary to prevent accidents caused by sudden temperature changes.
Accordingly, Seongdong-gu will carry out thorough inspections and management to prevent safety accidents during the thawing season and to eliminate risk factors.
The main inspection items include checking for ground subsidence and cracks at excavation sites, structural deformations of retaining walls and stone walls, and collapses in cut and fill sections of steep slopes.
Especially in this inspection, the scope has been expanded to include safety inspections of vulnerable facilities during the thawing season, such as stone walls of apartment complexes and slopes in parks. Issues that can be immediately corrected based on the inspection results will be addressed on-site, and other risk factors will be promptly repaired and reinforced.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "Recently, the risk of new disasters has increased, including heavy rains during the thawing season. We will thoroughly inspect vulnerable facilities during the thawing season to protect the safety of our residents without any gaps."
